National Assembly President Khuon Sodary to Lead Official Visit to Thailand

Phnom Penh, July 4, 2024 – Khuon Sodary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, will lead a high-level delegation on an official visit to Thailand from July 11 to 12. The visit comes at the invitation of Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, President of the Thai National Assembly, and aims to deepen the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Cambodia and Thailand.

During her visit, President Sodary is scheduled to meet with several high-ranking Thai officials, including the King of Thailand, the President of the Senate, and the Prime Minister of Thailand. She will also hold bilateral talks with Wan Mohammad Noor Matha to discuss strengthening parliamentary cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

This visit marks a continuation of high-level engagements between the two nations, reflecting a strong bilateral relationship that has been cultivated over the years. The delegations are expected to sign a revised memorandum of understanding (MoU), updating the 2007 agreement to more effectively address current mutual concerns and enhance cooperation for the benefit of both nations' peoples.

Additionally, President Sodary plans to visit several historical sites in Thailand to promote and share experiences in cultural and tourism cooperation, further solidifying the ties between the two countries.

This series of diplomatic exchanges underscores the robust engagement between Cambodia and Thailand, as evidenced by the recent visits of Thai and Cambodian leaders, including Thailand's Prime Minister Setha Thavisin to Cambodia in late 2023, Wan Mohammad Noor Matha in March 2024, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet's official visit to Thailand on February 7, 2024.
